‘Seinfeld’ actors to appear for Dem fundraiser

- By Benjamin Wermund

WASHINGTON — A “Seinfeld” reunion of sorts is in the works — to raise money for Texas Democrats as the state continues to see robust early voting turnout.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Larry David are slated to share behind-the-scenes stories and dish about their favorite episodes online in a “fundraiser about something” hosted by Seth Meyers.

“We knew that we had to reunite for something special and the movement on the ground for Texas Democrats up and down the ballot is the perfect opportunity to do just that,” the three stars said in

a joint statement. “Texans are getting out to vote in droves and showing the world that Texas has never been a red state, it’s been a nonvoting state.”

Texas is leading the country in ballots cast in the 2020 presidential election so far, with more than 4 million votes counted as of Sunday.

Numerous celebrities have turned their attention to Texas this election cycle, urging followers to donate to the state’s Democratic party, and in many cases donating to candidates themselves.

Republicans, meanwhile, have cast the attention as California liberals meddling in Texas politics.

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn’s campaign has taken to calling former Air Force pilot MJ Hegar, his Democratic challenger, “Hollywood Hegar” because she has received donations from celebrities including Kristen Bell and Rosie O’Donnell.

The “Seinfeld” event is at 7 p.m. Friday at txdem.co/something. A donation to the Texas Democratic Party will be required to get access.
