CVS Health gets ready to hire 15,000
500 jobs would be in San Antonio area
CVS Health is looking for a few good people to help prepare its pharmacies for what could be an onslaught of COVID-19 and flu cases this fall and winter.
Well, more than a few people; to be exact, they’re looking to hire 15,000 new employees.
More than 500 of the openings are available in the San Antonio area, most for full- and part-time licensed pharmacy technicians at CVS Pharmacy locations.
But the company also is looking for pharmacists, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, member benefit case professionals and distribution center employees.
“Additional team members typically are needed every flu season,” said Shea Manigo, the company’s division vice president who oversees parts of Texas. “However, we’re estimating a much greater need for trained pharmacy technicians this year given the continued presence of COVID-19 in our communities.”
Manigo said flexible hours are available.
Pharmacy technicians work under the supervision of licensed pharmacists to process prescriptions, dispense medications and provide information to customers and health professionals.
During the pandemic, these employees have also been administering COVID-19 tests at the company’s drive-thru testing sites. Consumers can find the self-swab tests at 25 local CVS pharmacies.
The drugstore giant is also pushing to hire work-from-home customer service representative positions that would start at 30 hours per week and offer a flexible schedule.
In San Antonio, these new remote jobs would support CVS Caremark and CVS Specialty pharmacy businesses and will be managed from a call center on the city’s West Side at 6950 Alamo Downs Parkway.
