SNAP benefits can be used for H-E-B delivery, curbside
H-E-B customers are now able to use their SNAP EBT accounts to pay for food on curbside and delivery orders.
To use the service, customers must create an account and enter their SNAP EBT information on the My H-E-B app or heb.com, the grocery chain stated Friday.
Once registration is complete, customers can place an order and choose SNAP EBT during checkout, in which they will then enter their PIN. A credit, debit or gift card is needed and associated fees may not be SNAP eligible.
Customers will be able to look up their SNAP EBT card balance in the My H-E-B app and the company's website. Shoppers also can use a filter to see SNAP-eligible items when doing a product search.
The app and website also will let customers know which items aren't eligible for SNAP EBT.
“This has been one of the most important initiatives that our team has worked on, and we are excited to be able to offer this convenience and service to all of our customers,” stated Esther Castelo, vice president of H-E-B digital commerce operations, in a release.
H-E-B offers same-day and next-day curbside pickup, which includes a $4.95 personal shopper fee. Curbside orders will be free on orders placed more than two days out. All Home Delivery orders will include a $5 delivery fee.
Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) is an electronic system that allows a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participant to pay for food using SNAP benefits.
