Spurs fans will get to see the new Fiesta-themed City Edition uniforms in action for the season opener next week on the road against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The team unveiled the colorful garb, a highly requested uniform honoring the team's vintage look, in November to much fanfare. A uniform to reflect the 1990s iconic teal, pink and orange aesthetic has been on the wishlist of diehards for years.

The team made the ask a reality, setting the city abuzz and sending the Silver and Black faithful scrambling to snag their pre-orders of the jersey.

The opener will be broadcast on FOX Sports Southwest starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The Spurs also unveiled a coordinating home court, which is reminiscent of the old HemisFair Arena and

Alamodome days. The festive hardwood will make its debut Jan. 1 against the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers.

The team will also wear the jerseys for home games during the first half of the schedule on Jan. 22 against the Dallas Mavericks, on Feb. 9 against the Golden State Warriors and on March 1 against the Brooklyn Nets.

Ferry returns as consultant

The Spurs on Friday announced several additions and promotions to their basketball operations staff, most notably the return of former player and front office member Danny Ferry.

Ferry spent the last three seasons of his 13-year NBA career with the Spurs, a stint that ended with him helping the club win the 2003 league title.

After retiring, Ferry worked in the Spurs' front office from 2003 until leaving in 2005 to become general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers, a post he held until returning to the Spurs in 2010 as vice president of basketball operations.

In 2012, Ferry became the Atlanta Hawks' president of basketball operations/GM. From 2015 through 2019, he served as a special adviser and later interim GM for the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Spurs also announced they have hired Samson Kayode as director of player evaluation/Austin Spurs assistant GM. Kayode was the assistant director of Team USA's men's national squad since 2016.
