No. 2 Baylor beats OU to improve to 10-0
WACO — Macio Teague scored 17 points, Matthew Mayer had 16, and No. 2 Baylor improved to 10-0 for only the fifth time in team history with a 76-61 win over Oklahoma on Wednesday night.
Teague had eight points with two 3-pointers in the game’s first four minutes, helping push Baylor to an early 16-2 lead. Mayer had consecutive baskets 33 seconds apart to ignite a half-ending 14-2 run after the Sooners (6-3, 2-2 Big 12) had moved within five late in the first half.
The Bears’ season-opening, 10-game winning streak, all by at least 11 points, includes their first three Big 12 games.

Wendell Moore Jr. scored a season-high 25 points to help the host Blue Devils hold off the Eagles while Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski was sidelined because of COVID-19 protocols.
The sophomore had been off to a rough start to the season but had a huge performance for Duke (4-2, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), which had to rally from 16 down before halftime in its first game in three weeks.
Associate head coach Jon Scheyer led the program Wednesday.

John Fulkerson scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half, and Keon Johnson added 14 for Tennessee (2-1, 8-1 SEC).
Jamie Notae had just five points in the first half, and finished with 19. Jalen Tate had 15 points, Vance Jackson scored 14 and Conner Vanover added 12 for Arkansas (1-2, 9-2).

Freshman Hunter Dickinson scored a season-high 28 points as the Wolverines remained unbeaten with a win over the Golden Gophers.
Michigan (10-0, 5-0 Big Ten) had a 19-point edge in the second half after leading by just six points after a sloppy first half.
Minnesota (10-3, 3-3) made just 32 percent of its shots.

Quentin Grimes scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half as the Cougars rallied past the visiting Shockers.
Justin Gorham added 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Dejon Jarreau finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for Houston (9-1, 4-1 American).
Tyson Etienne had 25 points and eight rebounds, and Dexter Dennis scored 18 points for the Shockers (6-3, 2-1), whose fivegame winning streak ended.

David Johnson scored 17 points, including a crucial free throw with five seconds left, and the host Cardinals withstood a missed 3-point try at the buzzer, holding off the Hokies in a matchup of unbeaten Atlantic Coast Conference teams.
Carlik Jones scored 17 points and Jae’lyn Withers finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds for Louisville (8-1, 3-0).

Sam Hauser scored 11 of his 16 points during a 28-10 run to open the second half, and the host Cavaliers (6-2, 2-0 ACC) returned from a coronavirus pause to beat the Demon Deacons.

Keaston Willis had 22 points as the Cardinals slipped past the host Demons. Brandon Swaby had 14 points for Incarnate Word (4-4, 1-0 Southland Conference).
POSTPONED GAMES
A men’s game scheduled to be played in Washington on Wednesday night was postponed after a city curfew was imposed because angry supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol. The Atlantic 10 Conference game between George Washington and Umass will be rescheduled by the league, GW announced.
Elsewhere, the Atlantic Coast Conference has postponed Saturday’s Louisville-georgia Tech men’s game following positive tests and subsequent quarantining and contact tracing with the Yellow Jackets’ program.
Marshall has postponed a two-game men’s home series with Charlotte scheduled for Friday and Saturday because it does not have enough available players due to the coronavirus, contact tracing and injuries.
The No. 7 Arizona women’s game at Washington scheduled for Friday has been postponed due to COVID-19 issues within the Huskies program.
The No. 3 Uconn women had another game postponed because of Covid-related issues. The Huskies, which saw their planned Thursday showdown with No. 6 Baylor canceled after Baylor coach Kim Mulkey tested positive for COVID-19, announced they will not play their scheduled game at Xavier on Jan. 13 because the Musketeers have announced a pause to team activities due to contact tracing.
