San Antonio Express-News

TO OUR READERS

-

The San Antonio Express-news has served this region since 1865. It’s endured by changing with the times, and we’re about to make another big change.

We’re moving the physical production of the paper to a Hearst Newspapers printing plant in Houston. The resulting efficiencies will help keep our business on a solid footing. They’ll also free up resources to invest in our core mission — independent journalism about San Antonio, its government and schools, its businesses and cultural institutions, and much more.

With one important exception, you’ll notice little or no change in the printed paper. The exception: coverage of Spurs games and other sports events happening at night.

Because the paper will go to press earlier beginning this Sunday, final scores for many of those games will not appear in the next morning’s paper. But you will be able to find Spurs scores, along with complete game coverage and analysis, at Expressnews .com/spurs. As a subscriber, you have full access to the website 24/7.

Our coverage of the Spurs in print will emphasize player profiles, analysis of tactics and strategy, and inside looks at the organization and the decision-makers who shape the product we see on the floor. At Expressnews.com, you’ll have access to all this and more, including the Spurs Insider podcast where our Spurs beat writers, the most knowledgeable in the country, dissect the team and its performance.

Expressnews.com is an extension of the newspaper, and we encourage you to take advantage. If you haven’t activated your digital access, go to Expressnews.com/access.

As part of our investment in our journalism, we’re expanding the “Go Team” that covers breaking news for Expressnews.com. We’re also hiring more digital producers to create valuable interactive resources for our readers, such as our Coronavirus Vaccine Tracker and our Flood Risk Map, a searchable database at Expressnews.com/flood that shows the flood risk for homes and properties across San Antonio.

We thank you for sticking with us through many changes over the years. The changes we’re making now will help ensure the Express-news is around to serve South Texas for another 155 years.

As we change, one thing will remain constant: our commitment to independent, verified journalism about our city and region. News you can use. News you can trust.
