VIRGIL JEFFERSON “JEFF” WAGGENER
October 7, 1961 - March 15, 2021
Virgil Jefferson “Jeff” Waggener went to be with the Lord on March 15, 2021. Jeff was born to Marcia Sawyer and Bob Waggener on October 7, 1961. He was born in Austin, Texas and grew up in San Antonio and Boerne. He graduated from Boerne High School where he lettered in basketball and football.
He attended UTSA where he met the love of his life, Ginger. They wed on September 7, 1985 and were blessed with two wonderful children, Brent and Kristen.
He was a dedicated family man who was a pillar of strength and support for his entire family. He so enjoyed coaching the kid’s basketball and softball teams and relished assisting with the Boy Scouts of America.
Jeff was man of strong faith. He was a devoted member of his church and taught Sunday School for over 20 years. He often volunteered to drive the church bus for retreats and other events.
He was a highly successful businessman who built his business from the ground up. Jeff was a member of the Texas Coin Laundry Assocation where he served as Secretary for over 20 years. His strong work ethic earned him the distinguished level of certified Master of plumbing and HVAC. He worked tirelessly to ensure the success and growth of his business. He was an avid animal lover. He rescued many animals over the years. He either found them a loving home or he and Ginger provided them one. Jeff was a sweet soul who couldn’t say no to anyone. A kind, loving, generous man. He touched many lives, and his light will continue to shine in all of those who knew and loved him.
Jeff is survived by his mother, Marcia Sawyer (Tom); father, Bob Waggener; wife, Ginger; son, Brent Waggener (Brittney); daughter, Kristen Raiford (Loren); grandson, Weston Waggener; sister, Katherine Lamb; niece, Adrienne Lamb; sister-in-law, Georgia Davies; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
There will be a private family service honoring Jeff on March 27, 2021. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the San Antonio Humane Society, San Antonio
