Man killed in two-vehicle crash

A man is dead after a two-vehicle accident on the Northeast Side.

San Antonio police responded to the 4600 block of Thousand Oaks Boulevard just after 2 p.m. Sunday for a collision between a truck and a car in front of an apartment complex.

The 33-year-old male driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with non-lifethreat­ening injuries. his vehicle on Interstate 35, near New Laredo Highway, around 2:30 a.m. Saturday and then fled the scene. The wreck was in the main lanes of the interstate on the other side of a hill. Van Ormy police Sgt. John Fernandez did not see the accident and slammed into the car head-on, officials said.

The SAPD officers who responded said Fernandez was outside of his vehicle while flames engulfed his police vehicle. He was taken to the hospital with a broken leg.

Police found the driver involved in the wreck about 5 miles away near Ray Ellison Boulevard and Loop 410. Police said charges are pending.

Barrera Parkway, officials said.

The man, whose name was not released, was crossing the road near Southwest 34th Street around 10:21 p.m. Saturday when he was hit, according to San Antonio police.

Two key pieces of evidence being sought are Walmart's surveillan­ce footage of the shooting and autopsy reports from the El Paso County Office of the Medical Examiner, according to court documents.
