FRESHWATER

BASTROP: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 57 degrees; Largemouth bass are fair fishing suspended jerk baits, senkos, and drop shots near creeks, brush, and shorelines. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs in brush piles and standing timber in 10-25’. Channel and blue catfish are fair on punch bait.

BELTON: GOOD. Water lightly stained; 58 Degrees; 0.80 low. Black bass are fair near rocky shorelines, channel dropoffs, and in creeks on A-rigs, stick baits, and chatter baits. White bass are good on the main lake points and in creek channels with spoons, white or silver slabs, and pearl or white swimbaits. Hybrid stripers are fair with swimbaits in the main lake from 25-40’. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in brush piles, timber on or near a drop-off, and deep creek beds. Catfish are good on chicken liver, punch bait, and cut bait.

BRAUNIG

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 63-66 degrees; Largemouth bass are good on plastic worms, spinners, and jigs. Work the rip rap and banks with vegetation. Striped bass are fair mid-lake. Red drum are good on live bait with lots of activity schooling mid-lake. Catfish are good on live bait and cheese bait..

BROWNWOOD: GOOD. Water stained; 54 degrees; 3.07 low. Largemouth bass are fair with jerk baits, bladed spinners, crankbaits, and blue/black or green/orange skirted jigs in coves, shorelines, and timber in 3-12’. Crappie are good on minnows in brush piles and timber edges near a creek channel or drop-off. White bass and hybrids are good on spoons and swimbaits in the creeks. Catfish are good on punch bait and cut bait in 12-25’ near baited areas.

BUCHANAN: GOOD. Water clear; 56 degrees; 6.88 low. Largemouth bass are good with crankbaits, hair jigs, suspended jerk baits, and craws in shallow water. Striped bass are good along the river channel with live bait and swimbaits. White bass are good on silver spoons, crankbaits, and swimbaits in the creeks and main lake points. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in 12-28’ fishing docks, timber, and brush piles. Channel catfish are fair on punch bait. Blue cats are fair on cut bait.

CALAVERAS: FAIR. Water stained; 65-68 degrees; Red drum are good identifyin­g surface activity moving throughout the lake on live bait starting from about 9 am. Black bass are good under 7 feet close to vegetation and low traffic shallow areas. Hybrid striped bass are fair on rattletrap­s using your fish finders to identify baitfish schools. Catfish are good on stinkbait, chicken liver, and cut shad.

CANYON LAKE: GOOD. Water clear; 59 degrees; 5.92 low. Striper fishing is excellent along the river channel edge with live bait. White bass are good in creeks and wind-driven points with swimbaits, silver spoons, and rooster tails. Largemouth bass are good with lizards, crankbaits, craws, finesse jigs, and shaky heads in 2-8’. Smallmouth bass are good on small swimbaits, plastic grubs, and small cranks along rock ledges and rocky shorelines. Catfish are good with prepared baits and cut bait. Crappie are fair with live minnows and jigs near timber in 10-25’.

CHOKE CANYON: FAIR. Water lightly stained; 66-68 degrees; 22.94’ low. Largemouth bass are great in the submerged vegetation and still working the Frio on jigs, plastic worms, and crankbait in less than 6 feet. White bass are fair still on the edges of the lake with small crankbaits and plastics. Catfish are consistent­ly good on larger live bait, cut baits, and stinkbait.

FALCON: GOOD. Water stained north and clearer south; 66 degrees; 41.24’ low. If you are ever planning to come down to Falcon, now is the time. Black bass are great fishing all baits in 8 feet or less on crankbaits or small worms. The dam, along with Tiger Island, are the most popular spots. There have been a lot of catches in the mud around 4 feet. Crappie are also good if you can keep your mind off the bass in creeks. Catfish are excellent working creek points using live bait and stinky bait. Remember to stay on the Texas side unless you possess a Mexican Fishing License.

GRANGER GOOD. Water lightly stained; 61 degrees; 0.35 high. Black bass are fair on crankbaits, chatter baits, and spinners near rocky shorelines, brushy creeks, and timber in 4-12’. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs on brush piles and timber near a drop-off in 14-28’. White bass are good on small swimbaits, spoons, and jigs near main lake points and in the creeks. Catfish are fair on punch bait and cut. Yellow cats are fair with live bait.

LBJ FAIR. Water lightly stained; 61 degrees; 0.70 low. Black bass are fair on jerk baits, hair jigs, tubes, and shadlike crankbaits worked near shorelines, main lake points, and rock ledges. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs around brush piles, rock ledges, and docks. White bass are good over main humps and creeks with jigging spoons and slabs. Catfish are fair on punch bait and cut bait in 14-28’ in baited areas.

STILLHOUSE: GOOD. Water clear; 43 degrees; 0.55 high. Black bass are fair on chatter baits, finesse jigs, and A-rigs working creeks, brush piles, ledges and points. Smallmouth bass are fair with small jigs and plastic grubs near rocky shorelines, creek ledges, and drop-offs. Crappie are good on minnows in brush piles and standing timber in 14-28’. White bass are good on slabs off main lake ridges, humps, dropoffs, and along the dam. Channel catfish are fair with punch bait. Blue cats are fair with cut bait.

TRAVIS GOOD. Water clear; 61 degrees; 22.49 low. Largemouth bass are good with crankbaits, football jigs, chatter baits, lizards, and craws near rock piles, shorelines, and ledges. White bass are good with slabs and swim baits working main lake points and creeks. Striper action along the main river channel is good with live bait and swimbaits. Crappie are good on minnows and black/chartreuse jigs in 11-30’ near docks, brush piles, and rock ledges. Catfish are good on cut bait and prepared baits in 6-15’.

WALTER E. LONG GOOD. Water lightly stained; 58 degrees. Largemouth bass are good on drop shots, crankbaits, and jigs near timber, creek ledges, and brushy shorelines. Hybrid stripers are good with live bait. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in 14-28’ near brush piles and timber. Catfish are good on cut bait and live bait. Sunfish are good.

SALTWATER

BAFFIN BAY: FAIR TO GOOD. 75 degrees. Speckled trout and redfish will be in the shallow water, less than a foot where it is warmest, and they are chasing the mullet. Catch and release is encouraged. Black drum are good around structure or vegetation on crab or shrimp.

CORPUS CHRISTI: GOOD. 63 degrees. Black drum is good and are caught around Bob Hall Pier on shrimp. Redfish and speckled trout are fair to good and maybe found over shell-on shrimp or chasing mullet. Catch and release is encouraged in this area for the time being to help the fisheries recover.

EAST MATAGORDA BAY: GOOD. 65 degrees. Speckled trout and redfish can be found around the ICW on mullet. Catch and release is encouraged for the time being. The black drum are good on shrimp and will be around structure.

PORT ARANSAS: GOOD. 65 degrees. Black drum is good on shrimp in the deeper water transition­s or around vegetation or structure. Speckled trout and redfish are around the jetty on shrimp.

PORT ISABEL: FAIR TO GOOD. 67 degrees. Unchanged. Black drum are good in the land cut on crab or shrimp. Speckled trout and redfish may be found around the jetties or among the shallow flats and are good on shrimp.

PORT MANSFIELD: FAIR TO GOOD. 67 degrees. The speckled trout are hard to find. Redfish are out on the flats in 1 to 3 ft of water around the sand pockets chasing mullet. Use kwiggler paddle tails in red and white - seems like the smaller the bait, the better. Offshore Texas water snapper are good when the weather allows.

PORT O’CONNOR: GOOD. 63-64 degrees. Speckled trout are good and have been around the flats or reefs- use shrimp and look for the mullet. Redfish are good on shrimp. Flounder are good around the rocks on shrimp.

ROCKPORT: GOOD. 64 degrees. Black drum are good on shrimp and are around structure. Speckled trout and redfish are on shrimp and will be in the deep cuts, drop-offs, and near the flats and reefs. Catch and release encouraged for speckled trout.

STILLHOUSE: SLOW. Water clear; 43 degrees; 0.55 high. Black bass are fair on finesse jigs, and A-rigs working creeks, brush piles, ledges and points. Smallmouth bass are fair with small jigs and plastic grubs near rocky shorelines, creek ledges, and drop-offs. Crappie are slow on minnows in brush piles and standing timber in 14-28’. White bass are slow on slabs off main lake ridges, humps, drop-offs, and along the dam. Channel catfish are fair with punch bait. Blue cats are fair with cut bait.

SOUTH PADRE: FAIR TO GOOD. 75 degrees. Black drum are in the deeper water and are best on shrimp. Speckled trout and redfish may be found in the Laguna Madre flats and are good on shrimp. To have luck catching them, you will need to be right on top of them. Redfish are more plentiful than speckled trout since the freeze. Catch and release is encouraged for speckled trout. Flounder can be found around the jetties and are good on mullet.

WEST MATAGORDA BAY: FAIR TO GOOD. 65 degrees. Redfish and black drum can be found over the deep rocks on live shrimp. Speckled trout are in the deeper water and biting on shrimp or chasing mullet. Catch and release is encouraged for the time being.
