A New Braunfels technology firm is making moves to go public.

Taskus, Inc. filed forms with the Securities and Exchange Commission on April 12 outlining an initial public offering of company shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market.

The company will trade under the symbol “TASK,” but details on the number of available shares, price range and timing aren’t yet available, according to the filing.

“Taskus has been a great New Braunfels partner,” said Chester Jenke, a vice president at New Braunfels Economic Development Corp. “They have overachieved every estimated commitment that they committed to — capital investment, employees and wages for their employees.”

The plan outlines two types of common stocks: class A and B. The company’s co-founders, Bryce Maddock and Jaspar Weir, along with affiliates of the Blackstone Group Inc., a New Yorkbased investment management firm, will hold all class B common stock.

They’ll also hold a majority of the voting power in the election of company’s directors.

Taskus calls itself a “business processing outsourcer.” It provides companies with tech services such as customer support, content security, consulting and artificial intelligence operations.

Its clients include many bigname tech companies such as Netflix, Shopify, Zoom, Uber, Doordash, Mailchimp and Robinhood.

Founded in 2008, the company posted $478 million in revenue in 2020. The firm has more than 23,600 employees at 18 locations in seven countries.

The majority of the company’s employees, more than 15,200, are in the Philippines.

“Since opening its first San Antonio office in 2017, Taskus has significantly expanded its operations and employs more than 1,500 people across the San Antonio region,” said Tom Long, chief development officer at the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation. “From their New Braunfels headquarters, we are thrilled to see Taskus reaching new organizational goals, most recently filing for IPO.

“New Braunfels is a critical ally in our regional economic development efforts and an incredible community for business investment.”

The company’s New Braunfels location has nearly 510 employees at its 41,150-square-foot facility called “Galaxis” on Independence Drive.

Its New Braunfels growth stems from a deal with New Braunfels and Comal County, who chipped in about $300,000 in incentives, including an employee development grant as well as real estate and sales tax breaks, according to a 2018 Express-news report.

The firm still has offices in San Antonio, including roughly 1,160 employees in a 77,400-squarefoot facility dubbed “Lizzy’s Clubhouse” in the revamped Finesilver building on Camaron Street.

In 2019, Taskus subleased more than 77,000-square-feet of space for 1,200 employees at Rackspace Technology’s headquarters in Windcrest.

Goldman Sachs & Co. and J.P. Morgan are managing the company’s IPO.
