When and where Texans can get the COVID-19 vaccine

Supplies are increasing, wait times are easing and more locations are allowing limited walk-in access to inoculations. We update this guide daily to give you what you need to know:

Who can get it now?

All Texans 16 and older are eligible to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

If I qualify, where can I get it?

You can make an appointment with a pharmacy, hospital, clinic or other provider. The city offers text alerts about opportunities to get appointments with public providers — to sign up, text Vaccine or, for alerts in Spanish, Vacuna, to 55000.

VIA Metropolitan Transit offers free rides to or from an appointment at a city- or countysponsored COVID-19 vaccination site. Check Viainfo.net for the latest service updates.

Here’s where some major providers stand now:

City: The city and Healthcare Access San Antonio have a vaccine wait list open to all Texas adults. Priority will be given to those 65 and older. To sign up, register online in English at sanantonio.gov/waitlist or in Spanish at sanantonio.gov/ listadeespera. To register by phone, call 311 and select option 8 or call 210-207-6000 to speak with an operator. Phone lines are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day.

Registrants’ information will be in a secure database accessed only by vaccine providers, who will email or call them to schedule their appointments. Until vaccines become more readily available, it may take several weeks to get an appointment. Seniors 75 and older may continue showing up at the Alamodome in the afternoons without appointments to get vaccinated. More information is at bit.ly/35e0u7y.

University Health: Operating two vaccine clinics at the Wonderland of the Americas mall’s lower level, 4522 Fredericksburg Road, and at St. Philip’s College MLK Campus, Center for Learning Resources (Building 8) at 1801 Martin Luther King Drive. The Wonderland clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays. The St. Philip’s site is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Check for appointment availability at

Wellmed: Online registration has opened for anyone 18 and older seeking appointments to get first doses of the Moderna vaccine at two clinics — the Treviño López Senior One-stop Center, 8353 Culebra Road, and the Cisneros Senior Community Activity Center, 517 SW Military. To reserve an appointment at the Treviño López center, visit sign up.com/go/yxxjpav. To book an appointment at the Cisneros center, go to signup.com/go/ TYKXGUS. Comal County: The county’s vaccine standby list is open. Go to co.comal.tx.us Those without computer access can call 830620-5575. The county uses the Moderna vaccine.

Schertz: Check

schertz.com/ 2025/Covid-19-vaccinations to see if any vaccine appointments are available. No walk-ins will be accepted. You do not have to be a Schertz resident to get vaccinated there.

Centromed: Established patients may call 210-334-3820 to schedule a vaccine appointment. Go to www.centromedsa.com to check for vaccine availability.

Christus Santa Rosa Health System: Appointments are made through an online chat function at vacci nate.christushealth.org, which screens for eligibility — if it does not appear, no appointments are available.

Communicare Health Centers: Will contact current eligible patients to schedule appointments as supply allows.

Gonzaba Medical Group: Reservations available at 210905-4276 for people 18 and older for appointments from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Tuesday through Friday at the Gonzaba Event Center at 933 Pleasanton Road. Phone lines open until 8 p.m..

Methodist Healthcare: Vaccinating its employees, providers and transplant patients, along with health care workers in the community. For information, call 210-575-0580 or visit exne.ws/ sahealth.

San Antonio Military Health System: Brooke Army Medical Center will announce appointments for upcoming weeks every Tuesday evening on its Facebook page. BAMC is giving vaccines only to beneficiaries 65 and older, high-risk beneficiaries 16 to 64 years old, and military and civilian personnel working in the Defense Department’s health care services, national security or front-line essential personnel positions. Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center is letting all beneficiaries 16 and older make appointments, including those without medical conditions. South Texas Veterans Health Care System: Offering vaccines to all veterans, their caregivers, spouses, surviving spouses and CHAMPVA beneficiaries as supply allows. By appointment only. Register for an appointment at www.va.gov/ health-care/covid-19-vaccine/. The system also allows veterans, their caregivers and their spouses to show up without appointments from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays at the Wonderland of the Americas mall to get vaccinated — go to the former Stein Mart location. UT Health San Antonio: Register and check availability of first-dose vaccine appointments at schedule.utmedicinesa .com.

University of Texas at San Antonio: Offering vaccine appointments to current students, faculty and staff through Tuesday. Appointments required; no walk-ins. The vaccines will be given in the school’s Denman Ballroom (SU 2.01.28) on the main campus. Details were emailed April 12 by UTSA Recovery Operations and can be seen at utsa.edu/roadmap/covid-19vaccines/.

CVS: Vaccines are offered at many area pharmacies. Check availability at Cvs.com or through the CVS Pharmacy mobile app; registration is required. Those without online access can call CVS customer service at 800-746-7287. No walk-ins.

H-E-B: Check availability at vaccine.heb.com.

Walgreens: Check availability at Walgreens.com/sched ulevaccine. No walk-ins accepted. Also has been vaccinating residents and staff of long-term care facilities. Check exne.ws/ wal for updates.

Walmart, Sam’s Club: Vaccines are being offered at more than two dozen Walmart stores in San Antonio, plus stores in Converse, Boerne, Cibolo, Helotes, Schertz and Universal City. Vaccines also are being scheduled at half a dozen Sam’s Club stores in the San Antonio area. How much does it cost?

The vaccine is free, regardless of insurance status.
