A&M defensive coordinator taking Duke head coach job
COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M defensive coordinator Mike Elko will be Duke’s next head coach, Blue Devils senior athletic director Art Chase told the Action Network.
Elko, 44, arrived at A&M four years ago along with head coach Jimbo Fisher and turned the Aggies defense into one of the SEC’S top units. Elko, a New Jersey native, came to A&M after one season at Notre Dame, and before that he was at Wake Forest.
Fisher is expected to move quickly in naming a replacement, as the early signing period starts Wednesday.
