Bates’ novel “The Darling Buds of May.” It follows the Larkin family — wheelerdea­ler Pop (Bradley Walsh), his wife, Ma ( Joanna Scanlan), and their six children — as they bask in their patch of paradise in Kent amid personal sagas and village life.
