Infiniti QX80 gets new touch screen, with 2022 prices starting at $70,600

- On the Road, By G. CHAMBERS WILLIAMS III

Infiniti’s flagship QX80 full-size sport utility returns for 2022 with an upgraded infotainment touch screen and a starting price of $70,600 (plus $1,395 freight) for the base Luxe model with rear-wheel drive.

Prices range as high as $84,850 for the top-of-theline Sensory model with four-wheel drive, or $82,235 with rear-wheel drive.

In between the two is the Premium Select rear-drive model for $75,385, which comes with the basics of the Luxe model, along with 22-inch dark-chrome alloy wheels, unique Matte Mocha Burl interior trim and more.

Four-wheel drive may be added to the Luxe and Premium Select models for $3,100, bringing their base prices to $73,700 and $78,485, respectively.

The Sensory model was added just last year, replacing the previous Limited version.

For 2022, all models get the new widescreen, highdefinition 12.3-inch Infiniti Intouch display, along with wireless Apple Carplay and Usb-based Android Auto compatibility.

The new display and infotainment system includes navigation with lane guidance. A new wireless smartphone charger is

included, along with a Bose Premium Sound system, and Intelligent Cruise Control.

Sensory models include available exclusive exterior paint and trim – such as the Coulis Red premium color ($695). Our 2022 Sensory four-wheel-drive tester, though, came with the Anthracite Gray paint, with no extra charge, along with custom seating materials and appearance enhancements.

Infiniti’s Smart Rearview Mirror system – standard on all QX80 models -- brings improved high-definition clarity and a wider screen size – 9.6 inches -- for enhanced rearward visibility.

The driver can switch between a regular mirror and the LCD monitor to display a high-definition image from a camera mounted outside the rear of the vehicle.

Sensory models also include Charcoal Burl interior trim and a new graphite tricot headliner for a handcrafted, tailored feel. Outside, there are new 22-inch forged-alloy wheels and chrome mirror caps.

The Infiniti Hydraulic Body Motion Control System is standard. It’s designed to improve cornering stability and provide a smoother ride at all speeds.

Infiniti, which is Nissan’s

luxury brand, created the QX80 from the Nissan Armada SUV.

The Premium Select model has its own set of unique features besides the wheels and interior trim. They include dark chrome and black highlights on the grille, fender vents, door mirror caps and rear tailgate strip.

All models, starting with the Luxe, include standard driver-assist technologies such as Blind Spot Intervention, Lane Departure Prevention, Distance Control Assist, Rear Seat Belt Reminder and updated Intelligent Cruise Control.
