Ex-aggie Calzada heading to Auburn

COLLEGE STATION — Former Texas A&M quarterbac­k Zach Calzada has found a new home — at one of the Aggies’ SEC West opponents.

Calzada announced Thursday that he intends to play at Auburn in 2022.

Calzada, despite spending the majority of the season as A&M’S starting quarterbac­k in filling in for the injured Haynes King starting in Week 2, decided to transfer following the Aggies’ 27-24 loss at LSU to wrap up the regular season.

King should be back and healthy in the spring, and LSU quarterbac­k Max Johnson — who beat the Aggies in late November — also has transferre­d to A&M and will compete for the starting job. So will five-star prospect Conner Weigman of Bridgeland, who intends to enroll at A&M this semester and will take part in spring drills.

Brent Zwerneman TCU’S Evans transferri­ng to Mississipp­i: Former North Shore standout Zach Evans announced he will be transferri­ng to Mississipp­i after two seasons at TCU.

When he signed with TCU in 2020, Evans, a five-star recruit. was the highest-rated signee the Horned Frogs had landed in program history. He rushed for 648 yards and five touchdowns in six games in 2021, missing six of TCU’S final seven games with turf toe.

Greg Rajan Ex-coach Robinson dies at 70: Greg Robinson, who won two Super Bowl rings with the Denver Broncos while spending nearly four decades coaching in the NFL and college, has died. He was 70.

Robinson’s wife, Laura, said he died Wednesday from a form of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Robinson also served as defensive coordinato­r for the New York Jets (1994) and Kansas City Chiefs (2001-03).

After his stint with the Chiefs, Robinson was named defensive coordinato­r at Texas, then was picked after the 2004 season to succeed Paul Pasqualoni at Syracuse.

NCAA addresses COVID-19

guidelines: The NCAA updated its recommende­d pandemicre­lated protocols for winter sports athletes and teams to follow the latest federal guidelines on Thursday.

Anyone will be considered fully vaccinated within two months of receiving a Johnson & Johnson single dose, within five months of completing both Pfizer doses or within six months of completing the Moderna doses. Anyone beyond those time frames will need to receive a booster to be considered fully vaccinated. The NCAA is recommendi­ng five days of quarantine after a positive test.
