Two teenage boys suspected of a drive-by shooting early Tuesday that resulted in a woman’s death have been charged with murder and other felonies, according to the Bexar County Sheriff ’s Office.

Both boys, 14 and 15 years old, face charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The 14-year-old, who the Sheriff’s Office said was the driver, also is charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The 15-year-old is also charged with evading arrest on foot.

The boys were in a stolen white Kia Forte during the shooting, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting occurred about 12:40 a.m. Tuesday in the 11400 block of Bald Mountain in far western Bexar County.

Novita Kurnia Putri, 25, who was working late in her home at the time of the shooting, died from a gunshot wound to the head. The Sheriff’s Office previously said her home was not the teens’ intended target.

A 41-year-old Airbnb guest at the home sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was treated and released from a hospital.

Deputies patrolling the area heard two series of gunshots several minutes apart and that shortly after — while the deputies were trying to determine where the shots came from — a call came in about the incident. When the deputies arrived at the home, one of them saw a car speeding away from the area.

One deputy pursued the car, while another stayed at the home. Deputies stopped the car near Texas 151 and Acme and took the teens into custody, authorities said.

The teenagers remain at the juvenile detention center.

The Bexar County District Attorney’s Office has not decided whether to prosecute the teens as adults or juveniles, saying that will be determined after the Sheriff’s Office completes its investigation.
