A&M’S futility at Arkansas continues

FAYETTEVIL­LE, Ark. — Davonte Davis and Ricky Council IV scored 19 points apiece and Arkansas never trailed in an 81-70 victory over Texas A&M on Tuesday night.

Davis sank 4-of-8 shots from 3-point range for the Razorbacks (15-7, 4-5 Southeaste­rn Conference). Council added six rebounds and four assists. Jordan Walsh had 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Anthony Black pitched in with 11 points, seven assists and five boards. Makhel Mitchell totaled 9 points, 13 rebounds and a season-high seven blocks — one off his career high.

Henry Coleman III and Wade Taylor IV both scored 18 to lead the Aggies (15-7, 7-2), who have won just one game in the past 35 years on Arkansas’ home floor. Coleman added 15 rebounds for his fourth doubledoub­le of the season and also tallied four steals. Tyrece Radford contribute­d 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Council had 11 points as Arkansas took a 42-34 lead into halftime.

The game was tied three times early. Davis sank a 3pointer to give the Razorbacks a 13-10 lead with 13:45 remaining, and they never trailed again.

Davis buried a 3-pointer at the 7:52 mark to put Arkansas up 66-53. It marked the Aggies’ biggest deficit in an SEC game this season.

Jalen Wilson had 20 points and Kevin Mccullar Jr. added 16 points and 13 rebounds as the Jayhawks avenged a loss to the rival Wildcats from just a couple of weeks ago with home victory.

Dajuan Harris Jr. scored 18 for Kansas (18-4, 6-3 Big 12), which built a 12-point halftime lead before coasting to its 17th straight home win over the Wildcats in the 10th matchup of top-10 teams in series history.

Kansas has rebounded nicely from a rare three-game skid that included the overtime loss to Kansas State, and it made sure to avoid taking back-toback losses in its storied home for the first time since the 198889 season.

NO. 4 ALABAMA 101 VANDERBILT 44

Brandon Miller scored 22 points to help the Crimson Tide rout the visiting Commodores for their largest margin of victory over an SEC opponent ever.

Alabama (19-3, 9-0 SEC) shot 59% from the field and 46% from 3-point range to pull off the fourth largest win in school history.

NO. 15 TCU 76, WEST VIRGINIA 72

Damion Baugh had 16 points and 10 assists and big man Eddie Lampkin Jr. made an unexpected return from injury as the host Horned Frogs overcame the absence of top scorer Mike Miles Jr. to beat the Mountainee­rs.

Jakobe Coles had 17 points, Shahada Wells 16 points and Xavier Cork 15 for TCU (17-5, 6-3 Big 12), which wrapped up the first half of its conference schedule in a four-way tie with No. 7 Kansas State, No. 8 Kansas and No. 13 Iowa State for second place. They were all one game behind league-leading No. 10 Texas.

Makai Ashton-langford had two key driving baskets in the closing two minutes and finished with 15 points to help the Golden Eagles upset the visiting Tigers.

Jaeden Zackery added 13 points for Boston College (11-12, 5-7 Atlantic Coast Conference).

Jahmir Young scored 20 points and Donta Scott added 19 as the host Terrapins snapped the Hoosiers’ five-game winning streak.

NEVADA 75 NO. 22 SAN DIEGO STATE 66

Jarod Lucas scored 26 points and Will Baker had 19 points and eight rebounds as the Wolf Pack beat the visiting Aztecs.

NO. 23 MIAMI 92 VIRGINIA TECH 83

Nigel Pack scored 17 points in a five-minute span late in the second half as the host Hurricanes stayed unbeaten at home this season by topping the Hokies.

NO. 24 UCONN 90, DEPAUL 76

Jordan Hawkins scored 26 points and Adama Sanogo had 25 as the visiting Huskies topped the Blue Demons.

WOMEN NO. 20 OKLAHOMA 101, TCU 78

Madi Williams scored 11 of her 26 points in the first half to help the host Sooners roll past the Horned Frogs to snap a two-game skid.

Williams was 3-of-4 from the floor with a 3-pointer in the first half and made all four of her free throws as the Sooners shot 55% while building a 51-43 halftime lead.
