If you’re looking for something to do with the kids the next time it’s cold or wet outside, why not pop some popcorn and watch a movie? There are oodles of options on streaming services.

Here’s a guide to some classics, both old and new, as well as local content:

“Addams Family Values”: The sequel to “The Addams Family” follows Gomez and Morticia as they try to figure out how to cope with sibling resentment following the birth of their new baby, as well as Uncle Fester’s romance with the infant’s too-good-to-betrue nanny. Available on Netflix.

“Apollo 10 ½: A Space Age Childhood”: Richard Linklater’s 2022 movie spins a delightful yarn about a Houston youngster recruited into the space program in 1969. Available

on Netflix.

“The Bob’s Burger’s Movie”: The Fox animated series made the leap to the big screen last year with this high-stakes tale in which the family has to figure out how to keep going after a giant sinkhole opens in front of their restaurant and youngest daughter Louise is called a “baby” by a bully at school. Available on Hulu.

“Hidden Figures”: The 2016 movie is based on the true story of Black women who played key roles in the space program. Available on Disney+, Hulu and Apple TV.

“The Muppet Movie”: Kermit, Miss Piggy and the

rest of the Muppets made their silver screen debut in 1979 with an origin story that explained how a banjo-playing frog made his way from the swamp to Hollywood. Available on Disney+, Apple TV and Amazon Prime.

“The Princess Bride”:

The ever-quoteable 1987 classic has

everything one could want from a fairy tale: sword fights, rats of unusual size, magic and true love. Available on Disney+.

“Spirited Away”: Hayao Miyazaki’s 1988 animated classic captures the friendship that develops between sisters and a magical creature. Available on HBO Max, along with other

Miyazaki movies, including Ponyo.”

“Three Amigos!”: Steve Martin, Martin Short and Chevy Chase play silent film stars recruited to save a small Mexican village from bandits in this deeply silly 1986 comedy Western. Available on HBO Max.

Witte Museum: The museum’s Youtube page has all sorts of fun stuff to stream, including facts on animals and

other things on display there, as well as the new “Wonder With the Witte” podcast. The latest episode is about the North American porcupine. And for those who are looking to get out of the house, the museum is open. Every Tuesday, admission is free from 3 to 6 p.m.
