Steven “Esteban” Solis — the morning television host arrested Friday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, his second such arrest — had trouble remembering what happened after a rear-end collision on the West Side, according to a report filed with the Texas Department of Transportation.

A San Antonio police officer was called to the area of Loop 1604 and Culebra just before 1 a.m. Friday for the two-vehicle accident, the crash report says. The other driver told police that they were traveling south on Loop 1604 when Solis’ black Ford F-150 rear-ended him.

The officer reported that Solis had difficulty recollecting the accident and couldn’t remember what kind of vehicle he hit or how the crash happened. The officer also noted that Solis was “slow in his speech” and “swaying while standing still,” according to media reports.

Solis allegedly told the officer that he had “two or three mixed drinks” prior to the crash. Police arrested Solis based on that acknowledgment and the results of a sobriety test, according to the crash report.

Solis had his blood drawn at the Bexar County Jail, the results of which were not available at the time of publication.

He was released Friday on $2,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned March 8.

Records also indicate that a condition of his release was a vehicle ignition interlock system, which is a small, handheld breathalyzer installed in a vehicle’s ignition that prevents a driver from starting a vehicle after drinking alcohol.

The 41-year-old is a co-host of KABB’S “Daytime with Kimberly and Esteban.” The lifestyle and entertainment show debuted in 2011 as “Daytime at Nine” and was rebranded in 2018 with its current title.

Solis has not appeared on the show since his arrest.

Last week’s incident was the not the first time Solis has been arrested in Bexar County. He was arrested in 2006 on a DWI charge and sentenced to 50 days in jail.

A second DWI offense is a Class A misdemeanor, with a maximum jail sentence of 12 months. The charge also carries a mandatory three-day jail sentence and a driver’s license suspension.

KABB did not respond to a request for comment.
