A San Antonio man was arrested after being accused of stalking local TV show host Kimberly Crawford for months and falsely claiming to be married to her, court records show.

Joel Flores, 58, was charged with stalking on Feb. 3 and is being held on $15,000 bail.

Crawford is a co-host of KABB’S lifestyle and entertainment show “Daytime with Kimberly and Esteban.”

She was also cast as Miss Maine in the hit 2000 film “Miss

Congeniality.”

Flores visited the Fox-29 news station, where Crawford works, at least eight times, despite being told he was not permitted on the property, an affidavit supporting Flores’ arrest said.

Crawford told police that Flores changed his appearance and vehicle three times in previous months and that she feared Flores would follow her home and harm her, noting that he knows where she parks her vehicle.

On July 25, 2022, Flores was parked in the station’s lot until a security guard contacted him. When asked what he was doing, Flores said that he was sent there “by a news anchor … to complete a job,” the affidavit said.

When it was confirmed that he wasn’t invited, he was told to leave.

Twice in December, Flores went to the news station — once to drop off tamales to Crawford and another time telling staff that he knew her and that she wanted him to do a job there.

On Jan. 4, Crawford told San

Antonio police that Flores had come to the news station that day and on Jan. 2 — asking for her — despite being told by staff to leave.

Crawford said that she did not know Flores, the affidavit said.

Police issued Flores a criminal trespass warning and placed him under emergency detention on Jan. 25, when Flores was at the news station again.

According to the arrest affidavit, he told staff members that he would cut the gate if they did not allow him to see Crawford. He also told responding officers that he could speak to Crawford through spirits and that the two were married, the affidavit said.

Police arrested Flores, saying that he “knowingly engaged in conduct that would cause a reasonable person to feel harassed, annoyed, alarmed, abused, tormented, embarrassed or offended.”

In the event that Flores is released on bail, the court has ordered that he have no contact with Crawford and that he wear a GPS tracker, according to court records.
