A Houston man is accused of kidnapping and assaulting his ex-girlfriend in San Antonio, court records show.

Patrick Dewayne Allen, 31, was charged Thursday with kidnapping. He is being held on $40,000 bail.

The woman, 22, told police that she and Allen had broken up after dating for three years and that she moved from Houston to San Antonio to get away from him, according to an affidavit supporting his arrest. She later told officers that she feared Allen because he repeatedly threatened to kill her and said that if he can’t have her, no one can.

The woman told police that on Nov. 3, 2022, she was with her new boyfriend in an Uber when they stopped in the parking lot of the Sun Park Apartments on Lavender Lane. As they started to get out of the vehicle, according to the arrest affidavit, Allen stopped his vehicle in front of the Uber.

Allen got out, grabbed the woman by her arm, and dragged her to his vehicle, the affidavit said. The woman told police that as they were driving away, Allen began physically and verbally assaulting her. She tried to call 911 but dropped her cellphone, and when she leaned down to pick it up, Allen punched her in the throat, the affidavit said.

When Allen had to stop at a red light, the woman tried to stick her hand out of the window to flag down a police officer who was at the light, according to the affidavit. The officer didn’t see her, so the woman managed to get out of the vehicle and ran to a nearby mechanic’s shop where she asked someone to call 911.

At the same time, Allen pulled into the shop’s parking lot and tried to drag her back into the vehicle, but he quit that attempt and fled before police arrived, the affidavit said.
