Aurora Alvarez Steele passed away peacefully in her San Antonio home surrounded by her family, on February 22, 2023 at the age of 89. She was born September 30, 1933 in Havana, Cuba and immigrated to New York City at a young age due to the regime of Fidel Castro. After several years, she moved to San Antonio in 1960 after meeting her husband who was visiting New York at the time. Upon arriving in San Antonio, she graduated from St. Mary’s University and furthered her education, receiving her Masters Degree at Trinity University. Aurora became a Spanish teacher at Jackson Middle School when it opened in 1970 and educated thousands of students. In 1980, she married
