Rick Cavender and The United WAY-UWSA

Late January, the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County announced the results of the 2022 Community Campaign, stating that $48,000,000 was raised by organizations across our area to support their efforts. During this celebration Rick Cavender was recognized for his leadership as Chair of the United Way Tocqueville Society.

Rick Cavender led this committee for the last two years with great success. During his two-year tenure leading this committee $12M and more than 120 new members were added to this amazing group of donors.

Rick’s leadership at United Way has spanned many roles and multiple decades, including Community Campaign Chair, Board Chair, and most recently the

Tocqueville Society Chair. His dedication to building a stronger community is unmatched and we are incredibly fortunate to have him as a partner and friend stated Chris Martin, United Way of San Antonio Bexar County President, and CEO.

The United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County has been a catalyst for community change since 1940. Since then, they have brought together people and community programs to solve our city’s most critical social issues. This includes breaking generational barriers by increasing access to education, workforce training, affordable quality childcare, housing, employment, and food.

They accomplish this by investing in programs that prepare young children for life, give students the resources they need to be successful, ensure stability and strengthen families and provide a safety net to meet the urgent needs of people in crisis. By doing this, they are creating meaningful change today and building a stronger foundation for future generations.

• As the Tocqueville Society chair over the last two years, Rick led the group to bring in more than $12M and more than 120 new members (we currently have over 300 members total)

Very proud that all Cavender Employees helped to raise over $554,000 for last year’s campaign… a 41% improvement over the year before! Stated Rick Cavender.

In true Rick Cavender style, Rick wrote a song in tribute to the Tocqueville Society. As a special thank you to Rick for his leadership and dedication to our community a plaque was presented to him that included the lyrics of his song. The plaque was presented to Rick by VP, Kasi Mccormick and President and CEO, Chris Martin.
