Express-news Fiesta Medal Contest returns

- By René A. Guzman STAFF WRITER

The battle for the best Fiesta bling has begun.

It’s time for our annual Express-news Fiesta Medal Contest, where we invite everyone to submit their Fiesta medals for us to showcase. And we do mean medals from everyone, from the official pin-ons of the Battle of Flowers Parade, King Antonio and other Fiesta celebrations, royals and nonprofits to the wacky wares of area businesses and the general public.

We’ll reveal the top medal selections in the pages of S.A. Life and online at Express News.com April 20, the first day of Fiesta.

Here are the rules to submit your Fiesta medal:

1. The contest is open to nonprofit groups and agencies, foundations, schools, universities and clubs. Official Fiesta royals may enter, too, as can businesses and individuals who just love Fiesta.

2. Only manufactured and mass-produced medals for Fiesta 2023 are allowed. No handmade medals or previous year releases.

3. Entries will be judged on design, originality and production quality. Judges do not consider how much the medal costs or if it’s given away.

4. Entries will not be returned. Medals will be auctioned with the proceeds donated to a local journalism group.

How to submit your Fiesta medal:

Take a color photo of your medal on a white background and email it with your name, the name of your medal and your daytime phone number to rguzman@express-news.net.

Fill out the short online form at expressnews.com/fiestamedals2023. Print the form and mail it with your medal to:
