Philip Bryant Vinyard
October 8, 1964 - December 30, 2023
Philip Bryant Vinyard, lifelong resident of Floresville, entered into eternal rest at 9:45 AM Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the age of 59 years, 2 months, 22 days.
Philip was born October 8, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas, the son of George A. and Phyllis Q. Vinyard. He was the youngest child of 6 and was very much loved and adored. He attended kindergarten at the Church of Christ with Mrs. Hunter and then continued through High School in the Floresville school district. After graduating, Philip continued in his father’s footsteps and graduated from Commonwealth Funeral College, Houston, TX and in February 1985 passed the State Boards to obtain his dual license in Funeral Directing and Embalming. During Mortuary College, he worked for a funeral home in Pasadena, Texas where he continued learning the trade and made friendships that would last a lifetime. After completing, he returned home to Floresville where he worked and later carried the family legacy established in 1956 by owning and operating Vinyard Funeral Homes and serving many families with love and compassion. He was a faithful member of the Floresville Lions Club for many years and supported many local organizations through his business.
Philip was an adventurer and a maverick who had a quick wit, even in his final days, and loved traveling, a wide variety of music, hunting, and spending time with cherished friends and family. Montana and Yellowstone National Park were dear to his heart and although his illness kept him from going back recently, we know he is there now in spirit. Philip was also a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for others. He was a hero and a cowboy at heart and came to the rescue of many throughout his life. He will be deeply missed.
Philip is survived by his beloved dog and friend Molly; five siblings, Pat and Becky Vinyard, Suzie and Nat Warner, Lynda Ragan and John Zidek, Sherri and Doug Bull, and Barbara and Ed Trevino; many nieces, nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel, Floresville. A private burial will take place at Harper Cemetery, Wilson County, Texas.
