Anne Lindsay Greer Mccann
July 8, 1940 - March 16, 2024
Anne Lindsay Greer Mccann passed away in peace on March 16, 2024. Born on July 8, 1940, she was 83. Born in Hyde Park, Chicago Il to her father Dr. John R. Lindsay, and mother Elizabeth (“Libby”) Wood, Anne was ‘the middle one’ of 3 sisters: Christena, the eldest, and Elisabeth, the youngest. She was a bright and spirited child: very outgoing. Oddly enough, she was quite a tomboy. She opted for the cello as her musical instrument so she wouldn’t need to wear a skirt. Anne’s hobbies growing up included horseback riding; dancing; playing guitar; and bridge. In high school she was extremely popular & sociable. Her last year was spent at an Episcopal boarding school in Minnesota, post graduate studies mainly in California. Later, she lived with her 2 boys & their father Dr. Don Greer. They lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan; Gainesville, Florida; and San Antonio. Finally, Anne settled in Dallas with her husband Kelly. She had become an avid golfer; tennis player; as well as continuing as an accomplished bridge player. Anne and Kelly shared their love for and enjoyed travelling the world together.
Over Anne’s adult years, she evolved into a renowned chef and author of no less than 8 books. Owned a culinary store in San Antonio where she additionally taught cooking classes. She wrote a food column for the Dallas Morning News over a 10year period and reviewed numerous restaurants throughout Texas. Anne is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Christena. She is survived by her husband Kelly F. Mccann; sister Elisabeth Conroy; Anne’s sons Donald M. Greer (and wife Karen); William W. Greer (and wife Ellen); Stepsons Kelly Mccann Jr. (Gail); James Mccann (Nancy); William Mccann (Jennifer); 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Perhaps, above all, Anne was the epitome of a devoted mother & grandmother. She will be sorely missed by her family; her friends; and by all who loved & were blessed to know her.
