Ladys Secret estate

-

The Pardee family estate, in the prominent Del Rayo Estates neighborhood of Rancho Santa Fe, is an Old World masterpiece with elegant living, panoramic views and parklike grounds. This custom-built, luxury estate, on the market for the first time, is within a private enclave named after the Eclipse Award winning thoroughbred Ladys Secret, sired by Triple Crown winner Secretariat. The estate consists of three separate parcels. The main, single-level estate at just under 9,000 square feet is situated upon 1.68 acres of impeccably manicured grounds. The two, separate adjoining lots (each over 2¼ acres) offer an additional 4.6 contiguous acres of prime, preserved estate land. The French provincial single-level estate is constructed of natural stone and was built over a period of two years to be the personal family home of Marianne and J. Douglas Pardee, one of Southern California’s most renowned custom homebuilders and philanthropists.

Designed by noted Rancho Santa Fe architect Richard Salpietra, the estate displays European sophistication with soaring 16-foot ceilings, oversized custom windows in the formal living room, two adjacent master suites with panoramic views and a wood- paneled library. The estate features five bedrooms, eight baths and a gourmet kitchen with attached family dining room, which opens to a spectacular saltwater pool, barbecue and entertaining area. 14716 Ladys Secret Drive, Rancho Santa Fe, CA 92067

The surrounding grounds were designed by Philip Shipley, a prominent landscape architect with a client list including Clark Gable, Walt Disney, Stephen Spielberg, Frank Sinatra and President Ronald Reagan. Shipley’s sophisticated design provides for 100-yearold imported trees, mature plants and other established landscaping not typically seen in San Diego. The resortlike grounds feature mature jacarandas, stunning oaks and pepper trees that line the circular drive. The estate is located atop the upper-most parcel with two adjoining parcels that provide unrivaled opportunities, security, views, privacy and the option to construct a custom legacy compound in one of the most legendary locations in Rancho Santa Fe.
