For better or worse, quarantining has to some degree been about bingeing. Taking this to another level and transforming it into a one-on-one performance experience is interactive artist Brian Lobel, below. His “BINGE,” part of La Jolla Playhouse’s Digital

Without Walls (WOW) projects, hooks you up via Zoom with a “personal artist companion” who during your conversation comes up with some recommended TV watching tailored to your habits and personality (you fill out a digital survey first). You can “BINGE,” for $25, through Sunday. I was hooked up with artist Season Butler, Zooming with me from Berlin. Our half-hour conversation was convivial and not overly personal, and by the end of our chat, she’d prescribed for me four episodes of “The Simpsons.” Holy cow! I’m not what you’d call into animation, but what do I have to lose, right? Fair disclosure: I didn’t have to pay for my “BINGE” experience, so you’ll have to weigh the $25 gamble yourself. It might help to check out the “BINGE” artists for an idea of what each is bingeing.
