On a more educational, even academic, note is the San Diego Symphony’s digital series “Listen // Hear.” These hourlong Zoomed episodes feature music director Rafael Payare and guests taking deep dives into symphonic masterworks. Recently scrutinized: Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 6,” his “Eroica Symphony” and, released just yesterday, Tchaikovsky’s “Pathetique” Symphony.” These talking-heads dissertations can be somewhat dry for the non-musicologically minded. The two I watched were enlivened when San Diego Symphony musicians joined the proceedings, with their instruments, to acoustically articulate important points being made. sandiegosymphony.org
