Nation losing a hero over Trump’s revenge

-

Re “Vindman retiring from Army, lawyer blames Trump” (July 8): Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman has more dignity, empathy and courage than most of us can hope to have.

He chose to retire rather than hold up promotions of more than 1,000 of his military

colleagues.

What a sad state of affairs when a man who came to this country as a small child and chose to serve the nation that gave his family refuge is forced from his service by a draft dodger who has lied and cheated this country and his workers for decades, and has betrayed the very military that he claims to support on so many levels.

Vindman will be fine because he is the exemplar of what an honorable company would want to hire.

His retirement is a huge loss for the safety of our country and for all of us who want to believe that the United States truly is a unique and special country. Carol Gendel San Marcos
