Buyer of large coin collections still accepting appointments

-

Local U.S. coin expert Alan J. Weiss turned 75 on March 5. For now, he is still buying large coin collections, accumulations and estates — but not for much longer.

“After 32 years in the business, Alan, you’re done. We need more time for family, friends and travel,” Donna Weiss said to her husband.

Weiss suggested that those who have been on the fence about selling, should consider calling for an appointment to discuss their holdings. Whether it’s several cartons full, bookshelves full or even a whole roomful, no amount of U.S. coins is too much for Weiss to buy. Appointments are filling up fast, so calling soon is a smart move, he said. Weiss will come to wherever the material is located.

“Sometimes it’s hard to part with collections because of sentimental value, especially if they’ve been inherited. But if you leave the material behind for your own family, you have to wonder if you are dividing it up fairly. By selling to us now, you receive money instead, which by its very nature is easy to split among your beneficiaries,” said Weiss, who also wishes to thank the many individuals, couples and families in the San Diego area who have worked with him over the years.

“Unknown factors like the economy, politics and foreign affairs can change the values of collectibles over time,” Weiss added, “so if you want to lock in today’s market prices, this might be the time to sell, rather than waiting on the unknown.”

Weiss, a U.S. Air Force veteran, worked as a vice president and retirement specialist in the financial sector earlier in his career. He can be reached at (858) 692-5057. (No texts, please.)
