Senior Center offers free growth sessions

Virtual concert features The Bassett Bros.

Congregation holds high holiday events
Congregation B’nai Tikvah will present High Holiday services and celebrations with traditional blowing of the shofar, the ram’s horn. Library’s program on Japan kicks off
The Oceanside Library is running a weeklong Japanese cultural program called Yokoso, which means “welcome” in Japanese. The online series starts Monday and continues through Friday with art workshops, a garden tour, drumming and a folk dance performance along with story time. SAN MARCOS Tournament benefits wounded veterans
San Marcos-based nonprofit Wounded Warrior Homes hosts its annual golf outing, ‘Fairways 4 Veterans,” in a virtual format. Proceeds will provide transitional housing for single post-9/11 veterans with traumatic brain injury and posttraumatic stress through the Wounded Warrior Homes program.
Golfers will play a round of golf at a course of their choosing during the U.S. Open, Thursday through Sept. 20. Using the TDJ Golf App, golfers play a virtual round of golf with three PGA pros from the U.S. Open. The app keeps track of the participant scores and the pros’ scores and the top “foursomes” will win prizes.
The cost of participation is $100, which will be donated to Wounded Warrior Homes, plus each player’s individual green fees. Community members can also sponsor a veteran to play, with a donation of $100 to the nonprofit. Deadline to register is Monday. Calvary Lutheran Church in Solana Beach will join thousands of others
across the country this weekend in public service projects aimed at helping the needy, improving their communities, and sharing their faith with others.

The Fallbrook Union High School District board will meet in closed session at 3:30 p.m. Monday to discuss labor negotiations and litigation. In regular session at 5 p.m., the board will hold a hearing on the district's Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan. The board will also review the district's 2020-21 unaudited actuals financial report.
