FALCONS’ TERRELL ON COVID-19 LIST

- U-T NEWS SERVICES

The Atlanta Falcons placed rookie cornerback A.J. Terrell on their COVID-19 reserve list Saturday and said he will miss today’s home game against the Bears, the strongest indication yet of an NFL team facing an issue with the novel coronavirus pandemic since the start of the regular season.

The Falcons declined to confirm reports that Terrell, a first-round pick in the NFL Eraft in April, tested positive for the coronavirus in Friday’s testing. Terrell participated in Friday’s practice, according to the team’s injury report, but reportedly did not participate in Saturday’s walk-through.

The NFL was performing contact-tracing Saturday and was hopeful that today’s game will be unaffected, pending the results of testing of other Falcons players.

Those results were expected to be available this morning. One person familiar with the situation said it “doesn’t appear to be an issue.” Another said there were “no issues” based on no close contacts being identified.
