A National City woman was fatally shot Friday night following a fight near a pizza parlor in Barrio Logan, police said.

The shooting was reported just after 9 p.m., said San Diego homicide Lt. Andra Brown.

The 36-year-old victim and her companion got into a fight with another couple, the companion told police. When the fight had ended, the victim started to climb into her car, parked at Dewey Street and Kearny Avenue, and the assailant approached and shot her, Brown said.

The victim’s companion drove her away from the scene but stopped at Harbor Drive at the foot of West Laurel Street to report the shooting. Police found the victim unconscious on the sidewalk near the vehicle.

She was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center where she died. Her name was not released.

The shooter was described as Hispanic, in his mid-20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build, wearing a light-colored shirt and dark pants.

A second shooting occured just hours later in the same area, although police have not said whether they are believed to be related.

About 11:40 p.m., a group of people were on Logan Avenue and Cesar E. Chavez Parkway when a white sedan stopped at the entrance to the Interstate 15 onramp.

A passenger got out of the car and fired multiple rounds at the group, police said. He got back in the car, which then sped away.

A 47-year-old man was shot in the side of his body and was in critical condition, police said.

A 40-year-old woman was struck in the thigh and was treated for an injury not believed to be lifethreatening.

A detailed description of the assailants was not provided.
