HENDERSON, NV — Janet Baer passed away peacefully at 71 years old Thursday evening, December 17, 2020, at her home in Henderson, Nevada. Janet’s husband and family were beside her. She fought a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Janet was born on the Navy Base in Trinidad/tobago to Vernon and Mary Searcy. They moved to Norway, Norfolk, Brooklyn and settled in Bonita, CA. There Janet started school and graduated from Hilltop H.S. in 1967. She trained at Beauty School and completed study at Court Reporting Inst. She worked as a Legal Secretary, an Office Manager for the Ca Nurses Assoc. and as a Court Reporting Instructor.

Janet married Ed on March 29, 1983. They met playing tennis at a San Diego Tennis Club. She loved and enjoyed playing tennis for years, roller skating, swimming, traveling, shopping, and taking walks with Ed and her dogs.

Janet is survived by her husband, Ed, son, John Young and wife, Tiffany, daughter, Bethany Reilly and husband, Matt, son, Matt Young and wife, Colleen and son, Joshua Baer. Grandchild­ren, Alyssa Young, Sarah Young, Jaydin Young, Nicholas Young, Luke Reilly, Annabelle Reilly, Kelsey Beeby, and Hailey Smith. Sister, Nancy White, and husband, Jim. Nieces, Mary Foster, Sarah Hooper, and Nephew Zack White. Cousins; Pricilla Bohachek, Helen Woodruff, Ann Ayers, and husband, Brian.

Janet was a selfless, beautiful lady. A loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmothe­r, and great-grandmothe­r and will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be scheduled later in the Sacramento area and a ceremony at sea in San Diego.

In San Diego and Las Vegas, Janet was an active participan­t in Breast Cancer Support Groups. If you would like to make a donation, her favorite charity is The Susan G. Komen Foundation.
