DEL MAR Drive-thru dinosaur show opens Friday

An interactiv­e drive-thru dinosaur show, called Jurassic Quest, featuring more than 70 walking, lifelike animatroni­c dinosaurs runs Friday to Jan. 10 (closed Jan. 4-5) at the Del Mar Fairground­s’ Tropicana Field, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd. Visitors will be guided along with a digital audio tour (in English or Spanish). Tickets are $49 per car and must be purchased in advance at jurassicqu­est.com.

Botanic Garden lights on display this week

Holiday Nights at the San Diego Botanic Garden features lighting displays and laser lighting throughout its 37 acres. The event is open from 5 to 8:30 p.m. through Wednesday. Arts center decked in lights through Jan. 3

The California Center for the Arts, Escondido hosts a self-guided tour of its outdoor venue decked out in lights, blow-up figures and large LED Christmas trees. New book out on Escondido’s history

The Escondido History Center is selling a new book on the history of Escondido, “Escondido, a Pictorial History of the Hidden Valley.” The nearly 250-page book features hundreds of photograph­s showing Escondido’s earlier history and describes significan­t events over the last 30 years. The book was written by the Escondido History Center’s executive director, Robin Fox, with help from board vice president Carol Rea. Price is $79.95 at escondidoh­istory.org. Hospice offers virtual support for caregivers

The Elizabeth Hospice offers a support group to provide adult family and friend caregivers with a chance to meet others in a similar situation, learn caregiving tips, and reduce their feelings of isolation. Led by a trained profession­al facilitato­r from The Elizabeth Hospice, the Caregivers Support Group meets from 10 to 11:30 a.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. While health precaution­s are in place, group sessions are conducted via Zoom. An email address and a device with a camera interface are required. A one-onone videoconfe­rence with one of the group facilitato­rs is also required prior to attending the group session. To enroll, call (760) 737-2054.

NORTH COUNTY Parkinson’s group meets virtually

Free monthly meetings for people with Parkinson’s and their care partners are held virtually on Zoom at 10 a.m. the first Monday of the month.
