Rosemary Mix View
1927 - 2021
SAN DIEGO — Rosemary passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 16, 2021.
She was a woman of service, loved by many. She contributed time and talent to the Women’s Club of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church of
San Diego, CA, as well as organizing and/or participating in several of the church’s programs. Parishioners would remember her serving coffee and doughnuts after mass on Sundays. She also volunteered to serve the schools in the children’s reading programs.
Beloved Mom, Grandma, and Greatgrandma. She is survived by her five children: Dwayne, Francine, Elaine, Don, and Rita, as well as her grandchildren, Ashely, Schuyler, and Evan. There are nine plus one on the way great-grandchildren as well.
She was born and grew up in Detroit, MI, with her three sisters. The “Mix” girls grew up during the challenge of the Great Depression. They didn’t have much, but she said they didn’t know they were poor. In high school, she started to correspond with her girlfriend’s brother while he was in the Pacific theater during WWII. She and Jay View, who passed in 2012, were married when he returned. They spent most of their 65 years of married life in San Diego, California.
She liked to travel and worked for a while in the travel industry, organizing tours. Her travels took her to Russia, China, Italy, through the Panama Canal, Alaska, and many other states in the USA.
She thoroughly enjoyed her aerobics classes well into her senior years. Gardening, her guitar, and family time were close to her heart.
She was a bright light and will be missed.
Services will be held. TBD. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
