Margie Lorine Lidster
December 1, 1931 - May 10, 2020
RANCHO BERNARDO — Margie Lidster, formerly of Chula Vista, passed away peacefully in her home last Mother’s Day.
Margie was born in Chattanooga, TN and came to San Diego at age 17 in search of a better life. She soon met the love of her life “Lucky”, and they were married 1 year later. After raising her 5 children, Margie went back to high school to earn her diploma and then to SDSU to obtain an education degree. She taught in the South Bay Union District for over 20 years, where she focused on issues ahead of her time including at-risk children and coordinating corporate internships for children of migrant workers, proudly stating: “I am dedicated to the idea that I can and must make a difference in children’s lives”. This admirable dedication earned her the prestigious honor of Teacher of the Year in 1987. She continued to mentor both students and teachers alike for the rest of her life.
After her retirement, Margie loved to travel around the country with her husband, and to spend time with her 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-greatgrandchildren. She touched so many lives throughout her time on this Earth and we know that she is missed dearly by all. She is survived by her husband of 69 years JR, sons Rodney and Michael, daughter Judy, and grandson Eric. She was preceded in death by her son Dean and daughter Darlene.
There will be an online service for Margie later this year; if you would like to share a photo or story, or would like to attend, please send an email to Lidstermemorial@gmail. com.
