Tritons update: Though both teams are in the Big West, this will not count as a conference game. The two teams are scheduled to meet as conference foes Feb. 19-20. The Tritons had their two-game series Friday-saturday against Long Beach State canceled because of COVID-19 concerns. The games will not be made up. UCSD last played the weekend before, splitting a pair of games against UC Davis at home, gaining their first win as a Division I team against another D-I foe in the opener. These two teams last met in 2014, but that game was marked as an exhibition for UC San Diego as the Tritons were a Division II program at the time. Toni Rocak does not start but leads the Tritons in scoring at 12.0 points per game. Bryce Pope (11.0) and Gabe Hadley (10.3) also average in double figures.

Highlanders update: UCR is coming off a home split of a two-game series vs. Cal State Bakersfield last weekend, losing a defensive struggle 47-45, then earning a 70-63 win. In the victory, the Highlanders were led by Arinze Chidom and Jock Perry, who each finished with 14 points and five rebounds to lead five players in double-figures. Those two also lead in scoring average for the season, with Chidom at 14.5 ppg and Perry at 11.7. Both average more than five rebounds per game.
