OCEANSIDE, CA — Mary Jo Cribbs was born in Latrobe, Pennsylvan­ia, to Mary Pauline Abbaticchi­o Cribbs and Joseph Marion Cribbs.

Mary Jo attended Latrobe High School, with Fred Rogers and Arnold Palmer as schoolmate­s, until her parents moved to Saegertown Pennsylvan­ia, in 1946, buying a grocery store which they named Cribb’s Store. Mary Jo finished high school at Saegertown High School, graduating 2nd in her class in 1949. She went on to Thiele College in Greenville, PA, for a year, before becoming homesick and moving back home to Saegertown.

Mary Jo married Frank Paul Andrews. They had two sons, William in 1955, and David in 1958. When that marriage ended, Mary Jo and her sons moved back to Saegertown, living above her parent’s store. Mary Jo helped her mom in the store while raising her two sons.

In 1967, Mary Jo became reacquaint­ed with Albert Schutz, and they married on January 10, 1968. Mary Jo had a wonderful husband, and William and David had a wonderful Dad. Soon after marrying, they all moved to Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base in Oceanside, CA.

After Al retired from the Marine Corps, they bought a motorhome and traveled for six months before returning to Oceanside, where they bought a home on Garfield Street in September, 1976. This was their final home.

Mary Jo continued her schooling to receive her AA degree. She was a volunteer with the YMCA and in 1988 and 1989 she was President of the Republican Women’s Club.

Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and her beloved husband, Albert. She is survived by her sons William and David, and family pet, Razor.

Viewing will be at Eternal Hills Mortuary, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, on Wednesday, Feb. 17, from 6-8 p.m., followed by burial on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 12 Noon.
