Symphony hires back one of its own
For Sheri Broedlow, being hired at the San Diego Symphony is a homecoming of sorts.
Broedlow has been appointed the new vice president of institutional advancement for the symphony, where she was previously director of advancement, campaign and individual giving for two years before leaving in 2019 to become the chief advancement officer at the Palm Springs Art Museum.
At the symphony, she takes over the position previously held by Todd Schultz, who left in December 2019 to become the senior vice president of development at Mccallum Theatre in Palm Desert. Schultz has since left that organization to return to San Diego and become president and CEO of La Jolla Music Society.
“I am thrilled to return to the San Diego Symphony to work with Martha Gilmer and join such an extraordinary team of professionals,” Broedlow said in a statement. “I’m especially eager to reconnect with the symphony’s amazing family of supporters, whose love for this orchestra is undeniable. The quality of the orchestra is an incredible community asset and it is an honor to have this opportunity to make an impact on its future.”
Martha Gilmer, the San Diego Symphony’s CEO, said Broedlow “is a strategic and dedicated fundraiser who is committed to partnering with donors to support their philanthropic vision. Her wealth of experience in the fine arts and deep understanding of the San Diego Symphony and greater community will be invaluable as we strategically plan the symphony’s POSTCOVID-19 future.”
In her previous role with the symphony, Broedlow oversaw an “annual membership program that grew 23 percent during her tenure,” the symphony said in a statement.
Broedlow, who holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California Santa Barbara, has worked for numerous arts organizations, including the LA Philharmonic and San Diego’s Old Globe Theater.
