Alphonso Plummer scored 19 points, Timmy Allen added 15 points and eight assists and Utah pulled away late in the second half to beat No. 19 USC 71-61 on Saturday in Salt Lake City.

Plummer made five 3pointers and Ian Martinez scored 10 points off the bench to help the Utes (10-11, 7-10 Pac-12) beat a Top 25 opponent for the first time this season.

“The best part of my game is I’m not just a scorer,” Allen said. “My mindset was just to come out and make plays, regardless of that being me scoring or getting a teammate a shot.”

Ian Martinez scored 10 points off the bench for Utah. The Utes shot 48 percent from the field and had 19 assists on 27 baskets.

Drew Peterson scored 19 points, and Evan Mobley added 11 points and eight rebounds for suddenly struggling USC (19-6, 13-5), which shot 37 percent from the field and lost for the third time in four games.

“Our second half of basketball was our worst half of probably all season,” Trojans coach Andy Enfield said. “The starting five played very poorly on both sides of the ball in the second half.”

Utah hit 12 of its first 15 shots after halftime and built a 13-point lead, going up 5037 on a jumper from Allen. The junior forward made five baskets and assisted on four others in that stretch.

USC cut the deficit to 5550 on a three-point play from Peterson. But that’s as close as the Trojans got. Plummer scored four baskets over a four-minute stretch — including three 3-pointers — to extend Utah’s lead to 69-56 with 2:01 remaining.

Sloppy basketball defined the first half as the Trojans and Utes combined for 19 turnovers before halftime.

Colorado 70, UCLA 61: Mckinley Wright IV had 26 points, six assists and five rebounds, and host Colorado used a 15-1 run late to beat UCLA (17-6, 13-4 Pac-12) for its third straight win. Evan Battey added 12 points for CU (19-7, 13-6).

The Bruins, who had a four-game win streak snapped, have a half-game lead over USC atop the conference standings.

Arizona 75, Washington 74: James Akinjo scored a career-high 26 points with seven assists, his final one a kickout to Azuolas Tubelis, who converted a baseline jumper for a home victory over the Huskies.

Akinjo, who scored 21, 20 and 19 points in his previous three games, was 5 of 8 from the arc. Tubelis added 16 points and 15 rebounds, Bennedict Mathurin had 10 points and 13 rebounds and Christian Koloko 11 points for the Wildcats (17-8, 11-8 Pac-12), who won their third straight game and swept the season series from Washington (5-20, 4-16), which dropped its third straight in its regular-season finale.

Washington’s Hameir Wright scored a career-18 points with five 3-pointers before fouling out with two minutes left.

Oregon State 73, Stanford 62: Jarod Lucas scored a career-high 26 points to lead the visiting Beavers (13-11, 9-9 Pac-12) past the Cardinal (14-11, 10-9). Oregon State swept both Stanford and California on the road for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

Arizona State 77, Washington State 74 (OT): Remy Martin scored 23 points, including a 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds to play in overtime, and host Arizona State (1011, 7-8 Pac-12) beat Washington State (14-12, 7-12) for the Sun Devils’ third win in a row.

Oregon 74, California 63: LJ Figueroa had 20 points, a career-high 14 rebounds and five steals, Eugene Omoruyi scored 21 points and the Ducks (16-5, 11-4 Pac-12) ended the host Bears’ (8-19, 317) regular season with another defeat.

West Coast Conference

No. 1 Gonzaga 86, Loyola Marymount 69: Corey Kispert made six 3-pointers and finished with 24 points, and Gonzaga remained the only unbeaten in the country with a win over Loyola Marymount (12-8, 7-5).

The Bulldogs (24-0, 15-0) won their 51st straight home game to set a school record and finished off a perfect regular season. Gonzaga has won 28 straight games dating to last season and is the first team to finish the regular season unbeaten since Kentucky in 2014-15.

BYU 65, Saint Mary’s 51: Trevin Knell came off the bench to score 15 points to carry BYU (19-5, 10-3), to a win over visiting Saint Mary’s (13-8, 4-6).

Mountain West
