Michael ‘Mike’ Colasurdo
July 16, 1941 - February 17, 2021
SAN DIEGO — Mike Colasurdo passed away peacefully on February 17, 2021. He was a loving husband and loyal friend who devoted his life to family, service to country and a passion for education.
Mike grew up in the Seattle Area. He graduated from the University of Washington with an Industrial Design degree and later attained his MBA and PHD. He served his country as a Commander in the Navy and devoted 24 years to active and reserve duty.
In San Diego, Mike enjoyed a successful career as an educator, serving for 27 years in
the Lakeside School District. He loved teaching children and touched many lives; he cultivated learning with his passion for model trains. A lifelong train enthusiast, Mike’s intricate replicas and dioramas were unparalleled.
Mike greatly loved travel, golf and a good glass of red wine. He was a wonderful storyteller and loved to inject his sharp wit into stories of world travel. He was a proud supporter of the La Mesa Train Club, San Diego
Train Museum, Midway Museum, and the Padres,
Mike is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vicki, his sister Pam Cross, and brothers Don and Dean Colasurdo. Those who knew and loved him will greatly miss his laugh and warm smile.
