Olga Braga

IMPERIAL BEACH — Our beloved mother, Olga Braga, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2021, surrounded by her loving daughters. Olga was born in New Bedford, MA to Marianno and Adeline Ferreira on February 25, 1919, the youngest of six children. Olga loved the beach, the outdoors and participat­ed in sports. She especially loved field hockey and was on the Dartmouth High School team which she later lettered in.

Olga met the love of her life, Edward Braga, and they became engaged before he left for WWII.

Olga worked at the Goodyear Plant in New Bedford and was a supervisor in charge of making a type of blimp for the military’s use in aircraft defense earlywarni­ng systems used during WWII. Olga and her future sister-in-law were volunteers for the Civil Defense and Red Cross.

Olga and Edward were married September

20, 1947, at St.mary’s Catholic Church in South Dartmouth. They honeymoone­d to New York City and then traveled on to California to visit family. The couple fell in love with San Diego and more in love with Imperial Beach where Olga and Edward built their dream home two blocks from the beach.

Olga worked in the canneries of San Diego and later secured her job at the Imperial Beach Post Office where she worked as a window clerk for 25 years. Olga and Edward loved traveling and took many family trips with their daughters throughout the years. When Olga retired, Olga and Edward took their motor home and traveled for months visiting family and friends from the West to East coast and back.

Olga was a devout Roman Catholic and lived her life faithfully. She loved her family immensely.

Olga is survived by her two daughters Gail Braga and Paula Kosmicki, sonin-law George Kosmicki, granddaugh­ter Krista Chmura, (husband Joe), and great-grandsons, Joey and Connor, and many nieces and nephews. Olga was preceded in death by her husband Edward, her parents, and five older siblings.

Visitation March 23, 2021, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM with the Rosary at 6:30 at Glen Abbey Mortuary Chapel, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902. Funeral Mass March 24, 2021, 10:00 AM at St. Charles Catholic Church, 990 Saturn Blvd. San Diego 92154
