SAN DIEGO — Retired U.S. Air Force Veteran, Kevin Smith, passed away on January 3, 2021. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Kevin was born in San Diego to Ronald and Marsha Smith. He was a brave, genuine man with a heart of gold, fun-loving and hardworking.
Kevin enlisted in the Air Force as a Biomedical Equipment Craftsman, proudly serving his county for 20 years. During his time in the military, he received a degree in Business Management from Wayland Baptist University. Throughout his military career, he created many lifelong friendships and memories. After retiring honorably, he became an Installation Service Engineer for Siemens Healthineers for seventeen years where he was a highly respected and regarded member of the team.
He was an avid book reader who loved spending time with his friends, family and rooting on the San Diego Chargers. He was devoted to being the best Dad and Opa. He also cherished time with his parents and brother on their annual hunting and fishing trips.
Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. George Rebstock and Mrs. Mable Cady. He is survived by his wife, Ana Smith; mother, Marsha Smith; father, Ronald Smith, Sr.; brother, Ronald Smith, Jr.; daughter, Krislyn (Ryan) Popek and grandson, Harrison; aunts and uncles, Peggy Harvey, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Booth, Jimmy Smith; cousins, Sherry (Jimmy) Hyde, Julie Bunting, Roland Rebstock, Pam Helmandollar.
Kevin touched the lives of so many people he knew and loved. He is missed dearly and memories with him are cherished by all fortunate to have known him. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kevin Smith’s memory to the Helen Woodward Animal Center.
