POWAY — Elizabeth Kilian Angus, 74, of San Diego, California, died March 18, 2021, at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, California. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 1, 1947. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Josephine (Lachlan) Kilian, step-mother Charlotte (Koerwer) Kilian of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and sister Joan Smith of Conshocken, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her devoted husband William A. Angus III of San Diego; son William A. Angus IV of San Diego, California and his wife Claudia; grandchildren Cailyn and Trevor.

Bill and Liz were married in Philadelphia in June of 1968. Liz graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Shippensburg University in 1969. Early married life was spent in Medford, N.J., raising and caring for her family while volunteering at church and in the schools. As her son grew older, Liz put her education to work as a substitute media resource center director in the local school system. In the mid 1980’s she helped found and eventually ran an educational tutoring center dedicated to assisting students with learning disabilities.

In 1990 the family moved to San Diego and eventually Poway, CA. Liz’s continuous focus was always her family and helping others. For the last 30 years Liz was deeply involved in the St. Bartholomew’s Thrift Shop of Saint Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, as well as other church related activities. She often accepted leadership roles and executed her duties with an infectious enthusiasm that inspired others. Her other passion was spending quality time with family and friends, and traveling with her soulmate Bill, to whom she was married for 52 years.

The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Sharp, who worked tirelessly with her through her illness.

A family memorial service and interment will be held at Saint Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Poway at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 22, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Liz’s memory to St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church to be used in equal support of the outreach ministry and the building fund.
