Katherine ‘Kathie’ Jones

SAN DIEGO —

On September 5, 2005, their SUV was t-boned by a Calfire-tanker truck headed to a Rancho Peñasquito­s fire. Kathie never fully recovered from her left-brain and multiple other injuries. Although she was not expected to live hours, days or even weeks, Kathie lived over 15 years beyond expectatio­ns, Dave was by her side, holding her hand, as she breathed her final breath.

Kathie was born in Sacramento, California.

November 22, 1959 - February 22, 2021

She attended Sweetwater High School in Chula Vista and graduated in 1977. In 1980 and 1983, Kathie and her first husband welcomed,

Katie and Andrew Thomas. Kathie worked as a Legal Assistant and excelled in her legal work. In 1990, Kathie enrolled her children in City Tree Christian School. She decided to attend church services at First Presbyteri­an Church, later that year, she became a Member of the Church. In 1992, Katherine married David Jones, in 1993 and 1997, they welcomed Madison and Hannah. Kathie was active in her Church, and school activities for all her children. At Miramar Ranch Elementary, she served as Room-mother each year.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, April 10 at 11:00 am, First Presbyteri­an Church, 320 Date Street. Online available at fpcsd.org/ events.
