Although many free community Easter egg hunts have been postponed until next year to curtail the spread of COVID-19, some are still happening virtually, as a drive-thru, outdoors or with the Easter Bunny in a “bubble.”

ENCINITAS

Eggcinitas Eggstravag­anza — Participat­ing Encinitas business owners will give out thousands of eco-friendly eggs provided by the city of Encinitas from Friday to April 4, during business hours, while supplies last. Ten “golden eggs” will be filled with a special prize. No purchase is required to participat­e. This replaces the city’s annual Egg Hunt, which was canceled this year because of COVID-19 safety concerns. To see participat­ing businesses, visit encinitasc­a.gov/eggstravag­anza.

ESCONDIDO

Hoppin’ Through The Bunny Trail Easter Carnival — 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Crossing Church, 1001 W. Country Club Lane. Carnival games, inflatable slides and an obstacle course along with trail for Easter egg collecting and photos with the Easter Bunny. COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed, such as masks and physical distancing and folks remain in their family groups. OCEANSIDE

Hop n’ Go Bunny Bundles — Say hi from afar to the Easter Bunny and pick up a “Bunny Bundle” filled with Easter eggs, toys and spring activities from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday for children up to age 12. Choose a time to schedule your drive-thru pickup at Melba Bishop Recreation Center, 5306 N. River Road. Participan­ts are encouraged to decorate their cars. Free; limited space. Eggstravag­anza — An online Easter Eggstravag­anza interactiv­e storytime aimed at kids ages 2-10 is set for 9 a.m. Saturday led by Village Church Senior Pastor Jack Baca. Kids are asked to gather items at home to help them walk through the story of Christ’s crucifixio­n and resurrecti­on. “Easter Bunny in a Bubble” — The Easter Bunny has a new “Bubble” that will allow him to social distance and give everyone a chance to take photos with him from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Peppertree Frosty, 270 S.
