Nonprofit gallery holds one-day sale Saturday

The Escondido Police Department, in partnership with the San Diego Sheriff ’s Department, is now offering transcription of the Sheriff ’s Helicopter Public Address System announcements. Artwork is judged by age group; one entry per artist; no entry fees to compete. All artwork must be submitted suitable for gallery hanging. ‘Keep it Small’ theme of new art show
The Escondido Art Association will holds its Open Show for the month of April, themed “Keep it Small,” at the Artists Gallery, 121 W. Grand Ave. Entries must be no larger than 12-by-12 inches to accommodate the Kids Kaleidoscope show featuring artwork from students ages 5-18. Take-in of art will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 4 to 6 p.m. April 5. The show will run through April 30, and all artwork must be picked up from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 1. The gallery will adhere to COVID-19 protocols. Member entry fees are $20 for the first entry, $5 each for second and third entries; nonmember entry fees are $30 for the first entry, $10 each for second and third entries. NORTH COUNTY Parkinson’s Support Group meets virtually
Free monthly meetings for people with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners are held virtually on Zoom at 10 a.m. the first Monday of each month. The featured speaker for April 5 will be Dr. Joanne Hamilton, who will give a presentation on “Intimacy.” Hamilton specializes in neuropsychology as applied to Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and stroke patients. Virtual walk benefits S.D. Humane Society
The San Diego Humane Society’s 27th annual Walk for Animals fundraiser, traditionally held at Kit Carson Park in Escondido and Liberty Station in San Diego, will be combined into a single virtual event this year on April 11-17. The event includes behind-the-scenes tours, social media surprises and pancake making. In addition to fundraising and engaging with online content, participants can walk around the neighborhood (with safety and social distancing ), around the living room, in the backyard, on a patio or even on the treadmill. Critter Kids Club meets weekly online
The San Diego Humane Society offers Critter Kids Club, a weekly virtual meetup for kids ages 7-11 to learn about animals the society serves. Spring Critter Camp starts Monday
Helen Woodward Animal Center kicks off its Spring Critter Camp on Monday. Children can interact with animals, create crafts and play games.
