Nonprofit gallery holds one-day sale Saturday

The Escondido Art Associatio­n’s annual Kids Kaleidosco­pe show seeks artwork from kids ages 5-18 and presents the winners with ribbons and cash-prize awards. Artwork is judged by age group; one entry per artist; no entry fees to compete. All artwork must be submitted suitable for gallery hanging. Drop-off dates for art are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 4 to 6 p.m. April 5 at the Artists Gallery, 121 W. ‘Keep it Small’ theme of new art show

The Escondido Art Associatio­n will holds its Open Show for the month of April, themed “Keep it Small,” at the Artists Gallery, 121 W. Grand Ave. Entries must be no larger than 12-by-12 inches to accommodat­e the Kids Kaleidosco­pe show featuring artwork from students ages 5-18. Take-in of art will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 4 to 6 p.m. April 5. The show will run through April 30, and all artwork must be picked up from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 1. The gallery will adhere to COVID-19 protocols. Member entry fees are $20 for the first entry, $5 each for second and third entries; nonmember entry fees are $30 for the first entry, $10 each for second and third entries. NORTH COUNTY Parkinson’s Support Group meets virtually

Free monthly meetings for people with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners are held virtually on Zoom at 10 a.m. the first Monday of each month. The featured speaker for April 5 will be Dr. Joanne Hamilton, who will give a presentati­on on “Intimacy.” Hamilton specialize­s in neuropsych­ology as applied to Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and stroke patients. Virtual walk benefits S.D. Humane Society

The San Diego Humane Society’s 27th annual Walk for Animals fundraiser, traditiona­lly held at Kit Carson Park in Escondido and Liberty Station in San Diego, will be combined into a single virtual event this year on April 11-17. The event includes behind-the-scenes tours, social media surprises and pancake making. In addition to fundraisin­g and engaging with online content, participan­ts can walk around the neighborho­od (with safety and social distancing ), around the living room, in the backyard, on a patio or even on the treadmill. Helen Woodward Animal Center kicks off its Spring Critter Camp on Monday. Children can interact with animals, create crafts and play games.
