Bruins 3, Sabres 2: Buffalo lost its 17th consecutiv­e game, twice blowing a one-goal lead before Craig Smith scored with 3:50 left to snap a third-period tie and give host Boston a victory. The Sabres have not won since Feb. 23, tying the 18th longest losing streak in NHL history. It was just the fifth time during that span that they have managed to come within one goal.

Red Wings 3, Blue Jackets 1: Adam Erne and Robby Fabbri scored 29 seconds apart in the first period and Calvin Pickard made 21 saves in his first start of the season, helping Detroit beat visiting Columbus.

Golden Knights 3, Avalanche 2 (OT): Max Pacioretty scored at 1:56 of overtime to give visiting Vegas a victory over Colorado. The Golden Knights had a 34-24 shots advantage, the first time the Avalanche had been outshot in 20 games. The last time an opponent outshot Colorado was Vegas on Feb. 16.

Maple Leafs 4, Oilers 3 (OT): Auston Matthews scored 54 seconds into overtime to lift Toronto past visiting Edmonton for its third straight victory.

Penguins 6, Islanders 3: Bryan Rust had his fourth career hat trick, Sidney Crosby added a goal and an assist and Pittsburgh beat visiting New York. Evan Rodrigues and Frederick Gaudreau also scored, and Tristan Jarry stopped 29 shots to help the Penguins pull within two points of the Islanders and Washington for the East Division lead.

Hurricanes 4, Lightning 3: Martin Necas scored his second goal of the game to break a tie with 3:53 remaining, and host Carolina beat Tampa Bay in a Central Division showdown. Necas, who also had two assists, put the Hurricanes ahead on a power play, with Dougie Hamilton getting an assist to extend his franchise-record points streak for a defenseman to 14 games.

Panthers 4, Stars 3 (OT): Aaron Ekblad scored with 9.3 seconds left in overtime after his apparent winner moments earlier was wiped out by a replay review, and Florida beat host Dallas.

Flyers 2, Rangers 1: Sam Morin scored his first NHL goal with 4:27 left in the game to lead host Philadelph­ia to a win over New York.

Predators 3, Blackhawks 1: Mikael Grunland, Rocco Grimaldi and Ryan Johansen scored, and Nashville won at Chicago for its fourth consecutiv­e win.

Coyotes 4, Sharks 0: Phil Kessel’s hat trick powered Arizona past visiting San Jose.
